What is SEVIS
SEVIS stands for Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). SEVIS is a United States Government computerized system that collects and manages data about foreign students and exchange visitors during their stay. SEVIS is maintained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Bureau and is designed to help foreign visitors follow the terms of their visas.
Am I guaranteed the Visa?
No. All U.S. visa approvals are done by the U.S. Embassy and it is up to the sole discretion of the embassy to approve visa applications.
Can I still apply in my final year?
Yes. All full time students enrolled in a diploma or higher program, within the age group 18-30, are deemed a qualified candidates
Can I stay in the USA after my J1 Visa expires?
Yes, but only as a tourist for a maximum of 30 days. You can't work during this period. You may not leave the US and re-enter on your J1 visa during this period. You may not be able to re-enter on a tourist visa within the 30 day period after the J1 visa expires. All immigration decisions for entry to the USA are at the decretion of US Immigration.
Can I stay with relatives?
Yes you can. Applicants are free to stay with relatives on the program. However, SNOW cannot guarantee you that we will find you a job where you choose to stay. You can, however, source your own job.

The J1 program provides foreign students with an opportunity to live and work in the United States during their summer vacation from college or university to experience and to be exposed to the people and way of life in the United States.
How do I register for the program?
Visit our office and make payment of JMD $2500 to start the process.
